SUMNER REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER'S INFORMATION SYSTEMS DEPARTMENT WINS HEALTHCARE IT AWARD

Susan Peach, CEO of HighPoint Health System, today announced that the hospital’s Information Systems department was awarded a “Best Hospital IT Department” from Healthcare IT News

“I am very pleased that our Information Systems department won this Healthcare IT award,” said Susan Peach, RN, BSN, MBA, CEO of Sumner Regional Medical Center and HighPoint Health System.  “Our IS department does an excellent job supporting our hospital employees, ancillary services and physicians.  They work extremely hard every day and I am glad to see them recognized for the excellent work they do on a daily basis at SRMC.”

There were 193 hospital IT departments nominated and 85 became finalists.  Of the 85 finalists, 12 qualified for the “Super” category (200+ IT employees); 15 for the “Large” category (76 to 199 employees); 24 for the “Medium” category (26-75 employees); and 34 for the “Small” category (25 or fewer employees).  The 34 in the small category was cut down to five winners and Sumner Regional was one of them.

Vickie Carter, SRMC Director of Information Systems, credits her team for the award.  She says they have their priorities straight and are a humble, hard working group of employees.  “We serve the people who serve the patients,” said Carter.  “They are our highest priority.  In order to accomplish this, we need to have a group of people with the same work ethic and values.”
