Imaging for Women at Sumner Station Designated an ACR Breast Imaging Center of Excellence
Imaging for Women Hosts Open House and Offers $75 Mammograms in October

Imaging for Women at Sumner Station, Sumner Regional Medical Center’s outpatient comprehensive breast imaging center, has been accredited as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, and breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy).

“The fact that the radiologists and staff at Imaging for Women at Sumner Station have achieved this extraordinary accreditation is a testament to the dedication they have to providing the very highest quality medical imaging services for women,” said Susan Peach, HighPoint Health System CEO.  “Imaging for Women at Sumner Station not only provides high quality, safe medical imaging, it also provides women the most comprehensive, dedicated women’s imaging center in the area.  Whether you need a mammogram or an MRI-guided breast biopsy, you can depend on Imaging for Women and the Diagnostic Center at Sumner Station for all of your breast imaging needs.”

The accreditation process includes peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.  Their evaluation has determined that Imaging for Women has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.

Glenn Nabors, M.D., radiologist and medical director of medical imaging services at both SRMC and Sumner Station is proud of the recent accreditation Imaging for Women has achieved and the comprehensive services and accommodations Imaging for Women provides for patients.

“Our center provides advanced diagnostic modalities such as digital mammography, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging as well as sophisticated breast interventional capabilities including stereotactic, MR, and ultrasound-guided core biopsies --- all in one convenient location with comfortable surroundings,” said Glenn Nabors, M.D., radiologist at Sumner Regional Medical Center and Sumner Station.

To celebrate the Imaging for Women’s new Breast Imaging Center of Excellence accreditation and October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the center is offering reduced rate $75 mammograms during the month of October.  In addition, the center will be hosting an open house for women across the community on Thursday, October 25, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., featuring pink cupcakes from Iced Bake Shop, giveaways, tours of the center, and an opportunity to meet the highly trained breast imaging team at Imaging for Women at Sumner Station.  For more information, please call (615) 328-5165.
