Susan Peach Awarded "CEO of the Year"; HighPoint's Riverview Regional Medical Center Wins "High Five" Award

HighPoint Health System received national recognition with two awards during LifePoint Hospitals®’ annual leadership conference hosted in Nashville on March 10, including the prestigious “CEO of the Year” award and the Company’s “High Five” award.

LifePoint awarded HighPoint Health System and Sumner Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Susan Peach with the “CEO of the Year” award for her outstanding leadership of HighPoint Health System, which includes four facilities in northern middle Tennessee, and awarded Carthage-based Riverview Regional Medical Center with a “High Five” award” for demonstrating excellence in healthcare delivery in 2013.

The “CEO of the Year” award is given based on LifePoint’s “Leadership Model,” which includes three key skill sets – Business Mastery, Relationship Mastery and Personal Mastery. Also considered is LifePoint’s core values which serve as a compass for behavior – trustworthiness, legal and ethical compliance, integrity and honesty, and compassion.  These attributes are the selection criteria for the “CEO of the Year” Awards.

Jeff Seraphine, LifePoint’s Eastern Group President, presented Peach with the award for her outstanding leadership at HighPoint and acknowledged her as “a remarkable leader who, despite the challenges of a competitive market and a difficult healthcare environment, produced strong results in 2013.”

Specifically, she was recognized for her efforts at Gallatin-based Sumner Regional Medical Center to re-energize the Women’s Services program, leading the hospital to be voted “Best Place to Have a Baby” two years in a row by the readers of Sumner Parent Magazine; for her continued efforts to make the Emergency Department a regional leader for emergency care; and for her tireless effort to make the purchase of Sumner Station a reality, which will allow HighPoint to expand and grow outpatient services for the system.

Peach was also recognized for her efforts to lead Riverview Regional Medical Center through a renovation and expansion of the hospital, and for her leadership in integrating Livingston Regional in Livingston into the HighPoint system. One of the greatest recognitions, Seraphine noted, was Peach leading Sumner Regional to be recognized as a “Top Performer on Key Quality Measures” by The Joint Commission.

The “High Five” award received by Riverview Regional Medical Center is the highest honor awarded annually to only five of LifePoint’s 61 hospitals, recognizing extraordinary achievement in demonstrating the Company’s High Five guiding principles:

  • Delivering high quality patient care
  • Supporting physicians
  • Creating excellent workplaces for employees
  • Strengthening the hospitals’ role in their communities
  • Ensuring fiscal responsibility

  • Rod Harkleroad, CEO, and Patty Anderson, CNO, of Riverview Regional, accepted the award on behalf of the hospital and received a check from LifePoint in the amount of $100,000 to be used to invest in facility improvements and technology as the hospital continues to grow and enhance its medical services.

“Congratulations are in order for the employees, physicians and board of directors of Riverview Regional for playing an integral part in achieving the High Five award,” said Peach. “I also want to thank the staff throughout the HighPoint system for their hard work and the notable progress we made together in 2013.  Our vision for all of HighPoint Health System in 2014 is one of even greater optimism as we continue to pursue excellence in all areas and strive to provide the best care possible to our communities.  I know the staff at each of our facilities is looking forward to what we can accomplish this year to make our communities healthier.”
