American Heart Association Resuscitation Courses
The Training & Education of Highpoint Health with Ascension Saint Thomas is pleased to offer several AHA courses to the general public. A course manual is required for each class and may be purchased through the AHA link https://shopcpr.heart.org. A current ACLS or PALS Provider card is required to take the corresponding Renewal ACLS or PALS class. Completion of a pretest is also required for all ACLS and PALS courses.
Pre-registration is required by calling the Highpoint Health Training and Education Department at (615) 328-3831. Space is limited. AHA does not profit from course fees.
Cost: The fee schedule for courses offered is outlined below:
- Family and Friends CPR: $50.00 - Recommended for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a CPR course completion card to meet a job requirement. This course is ideal for community groups, new parents, grandparents, babysitters, and others interested in learning how to save a life. An American heart Association completion certificate is awarded upon completion of this course.
- Heartsaver First Aid, CPR, AED: $70.00 - Recommended for people with little or no medical training that need a course completion card for their job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements, or anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting.
- Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid, CPR, AED: $70.00 - Recommended for people who are not healthcare professionals but are involved in childcare and have a duty to respond to illnesses and injuries until professional help arrives. Includes childcare workers, teachers, camp counselors, etc. Upon completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years.
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers: $50 – In-facility hospital providers, prehospital providers such as EMT’s, paramedics, fire fighters. Upon completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (Renewal): $100 – Healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (Renewal): $100 – Healthcare providers who respond to emergencies involving infants and children.
