Visiting the CCU
Because of the intense level of care required for many of our CCU patients (e.g. CT scans, MRIs, multiple procedures, life-support, etc), it is important not only that your loved one receive as much rest as possible so that he or she may regain the strength needed to recover in the most timely manner, but also that we maintain each patient’s privacy at all times. We ask that the visitation hours and guidelines be followed when you have a loved one in the CCU. Food and beverages are only allowed in the CCU waiting area. Food and beverages are not allowed in a patient’s room.
Hours
Visitors are allowed between the hours of:
- 8:30 am to 12:30 pm
- 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm
- 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Please limit visitors to two at a time. No children under the age of 12 may visit. In certain situations, exceptions to these guidelines may be made according to the needs of the patient. This will be determined on an individual basis.
Critically ill patients require plenty of rest and sleep for recovery. There may be times when it is more therapeutic for patients to have less stimulation or interaction with family members. Please trust the medical team when we ask for additional quiet time for the patient.
Please note that the CCU Waiting Area is closed daily from 10 am – 11 am for cleaning. All personal belongings should be taken with you during this time. Visitors are encouraged to utilize the cafeteria or the 1st floor waiting area during this period.
Infection Control
All caregivers and visitors must wash their hands or use alcohol foam before caring or visiting with any patient. There may be times when visitors may be asked to wear a mask and gloves before entering the patient’s room. No one who is sick should visit a patient in the hospital, especially in the Critical Care Unit.
