Celebrate Heart Health on National Wear Red Day
February 3, 2025

Take charge of your heart health this February 7, National Wear Red Day, by joining Highpoint Health – Sumner with Ascension Saint Thomas for the Heart Check Express Heart Health Fair and a special $99 walk-in Calcium Score Screening.
From 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Highpoint Health – Sumner, located at 555 Hartsville Pike, our Heart Health Fair will provide valuable insights into maintaining a healthy heart. This event is designed to empower the community with tools and knowledge to prioritize heart health, covering topics like nutrition, diabetes prevention, and the advanced treatment options available locally.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage with various departments and experts on topics such as:
- Weight management and heart-healthy nutrition
- Diabetes prevention and management
- The benefits of cardiac rehabilitation after a heart event
- Recognizing early heart attack symptoms
- Hands-only CPR demonstrations
- What to do if you experience chest pain
In addition, Highpoint Health – Sumner and Highpoint Health – Sumner Station will offer walk-in Coronary Calcium Score Screenings from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Typically requiring an appointment, these screenings are being made conveniently accessible for one day only in honor of American Heart Month.
A Coronary Calcium Score Screening uses a low-dose CT scan to measure calcium buildup in the arteries, providing an easy, non-invasive way to assess the risk of heart attack or stroke. This screening is ideal for individuals aged 40–70 with risk factors such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking history, or a family history of heart disease. While not typically covered by insurance, Highpoint Health offers this test for just $99.
“Heart health is essential to overall well-being, and small changes can have a big impact,” said Dr. Geoffrey Lifferth, Chief Medical Officer for Highpoint Health. “This event is part of our ongoing commitment to equip our community with the resources they need to live healthier, longer lives.”
