New Primary Care Providers to Support Smith County Families

Carthage Family Wellness has added two new primary care providers to their team. As the city of Carthage and surrounding communities continue to grow, it is important to add providers to care for these local families.

Alexandra White, FNP-C

Alexandra White, FNP-C, is a certified family nurse practitioner with Carthage Family Wellness in Carthage, Tennessee. She is originally from Gladeville, Tennessee right down the road, with family ties to the Carthage area.

“I chose family medicine so I could be a voice and an advocate for my patients,” said Alexandra White, FNP-C. “I specifically love family medicine and it’s really close to my heart because I have a ton of family members that suffer from chronic illnesses, and I’ve been very fortunate that I get to walk alongside them and learn with them ways that we can really increase their quality of life.”

White specializes in mental health, hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, GERD, UTI treatment, sick visits, annual physical examinations and more. She is a licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Lauren Van Pelt, PA-C

Lauren Van Pelt, PA-C, is a physician assistant also joining the Carthage Family Wellness team. Lauren is native to the Middle Tennessee area, completing her PA degree at Trevecca Nazarene University. Van Pelt is glad to be close to home as she enjoys rural medicine and the relationships formed in smaller communities like Carthage. Van Pelt provides comprehensive family care including joint injections, casting, splinting, advanced suturing, pediatrics and more.

“I chose family medicine because I felt like you get to form the most relationships with people in family medicine, you get to spend the most time with people, and I think the most important thing about being a healthcare provider is the ability to invest in people’s lives,” said Lauren Van Pelt, PA-C.

Van Pelt’s experience goes beyond primary care. She completed training in orthopedics, emergency medicine, pediatrics, general surgery, internal medicine, and mental health.
