Lactation Services at Highpoint Health – Sumner
Tracey McMahon, RN, IBCLC, is an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with the Women's Services team at Highpoint Health – Sumner. Tracey is a professional in lactation counseling who has demonstrated the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities to provide breastfeeding counseling and management support to families who are thinking about breastfeeding or who have questions or problems during the course of breastfeeding/lactation. We have Medela and Spectra double electric breast pumps in stock. The pumps are covered by most insurances and available to take home the day that you are discharged. They come with instructions and resources for collecting and storing your milk.
Lactation Services at Highpoint Health – Riverview
Chelsey L. White, RN, CLC, is a certified lactation consultant through “The Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice" at Highpoint Health – Riverview. A Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) is a professional in lactation counseling who has demonstrated the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities to provide breastfeeding counseling and management support to families who are thinking about breastfeeding or who have questions or problems during the course of breastfeeding/lactation. Lactation Consultation Options
- Consultations can be in person, or telehealth visits.
- Consultations can be provided one on one with mother prior to your baby’s birth, in the hospital after the baby is born, at discharge of mother and infant or after discharge, when you are home and need support and counseling to help with your breastfeeding success.
- Group classes can also be provided to mothers that are thinking about breastfeeding and want more information to help aid in breastfeeding success after your little one arrives.
Reasons to See a Lactation Consultant Prenatally
- No changes noticed in breast/chest area during pregnancy
- There has been previous surgery on the breast/chest area. This could include augmentation, reduction, biopsy, lumpectomy, or other procedures
- If you have any type of diabetes or other endocrine issues
- Flat or inverted nipples, or other physical findings that could impact lactation
- A complicated medical history or are on medications that may impact lactation and supply. PCOS, fertility issues, etc.
- The baby has been diagnosed prenatally with potential medical challenges or will need to be born early and spend time in the NICU.
- A history of abuse or trauma and are concerned about how that might impact their lactation experience.
- Pregnant with multiples.
- Any other questions, worries, or just need info.
