Placenta Donation at Highpoint Health - Sumner
In partnership with Tennessee Donor Services, Highpoint Health - Sumner is proud to be the first and only hospital in Sumner County to offer placenta donation, also known as Birth Tissue donation, to all expectant mothers.
Placenta donation is a free, safe, and simple option that doesn’t change your delivery experience. Instead of being discarded, the placenta and attached tissues are collected and repurposed to create grafts that help patients heal from wounds, burns, and surgeries. With its remarkable healing properties, each donation can produce over 100 grafts that save and improve lives.
Most healthy mothers 34+ weeks into pregnancy are eligible to donate. Mothers delivering vaginally or via Cesarean section can become donors. For more information, visit Tennessee Donor Services’ Birth Tissue page, call (615) 564-3600, or email tnbirthtissue@dcids.org.
